Taking a leap of faith to follow where your heart leads sounds like it should be easy, but in truth the journey to your heart's desires can be the most challenging journey you ever go on.
My journey began in 2014 when, due to personal circumstances, my life was turned up side down. At that time I started hearing the voice of my heart asking 'Is this it?' 'Is this the life you dreamed of?' I knew it wasn't.
So I followed where my heart led me to the other side of the world and started over. The voice of my heart continued to become louder and louder, I was a head of finance with 17yrs experience in large global corporates, working for some of the biggest brands in the world and whilst I absolutely loved the business performance aspects of the work I was doing, I realised I wasn't truly fulfilled being in finance. I had a passion for humans as well as business and I wanted to explore it further.
So I finally decided to make the leap and go all in and start my own business following where my heart was leading.
I was inspired and excited for the adventure ahead and I was all in to do executive coaching and leadership development programs.
But I honestly had no idea how challenging it would be running my own business and the impact on my own wellbeing.
Soon after I started I found myself experiencing high levels of anxiety, depression and what I can only describe as the inability to adult.
On the outside to most I was highly functioning but on the inside I was struggling. It was only when I realised I had begun to understand why people committed suicide I knew I was in a bad space.
I was doing what I loved and had followed my passion for humans and performance. I was coaching and delivering change workshops to corporate leaders but I hadn't appreciated how hard the journey would be.
Thankfully I got myself out of the darkness by applying the same principles from the H.E.A.R.T.® framework that I was teaching and sharing with corporate business leaders in my workshops and executive coaching.
H.E.A.R.T.® has seen me through the toughest of times and got me unstuck on many occasions I've no doubt that continuing to lean into daily practice of it will continue to transform not only my life but of all that have been touched by it.
As a side note, my experience with mental illness inspired me to create a safe space and community for business leaders to connect and share the realities of what they were experiencing because I realised the hard way how lonely the journey can be.
The community also attracted those that were feeling stuck disengaged in their corporate roles. They sought connection and to learn more about how to find what would fulfil their hearts.
Heart of Human was born from the realisation that we need more H.E.A.R.T.® (Hope, Energy, Action, Resilience and Trust) both for leaders in corporate careers and for business owners/entrepreneurs to succeed in their business and personal objectives.
It combines my passion for performance and my love of heart centred humans; to help all those who are working hard to create a better world, by digging deep into their discomfort and creating their best lives.
